Do you know about Takins?

The Takins are one of the less popular zoo animals who happen to be some of our favorites.  They used to live in an area at the zoo that was not a high traffic area but they were recently moved to the new Asian animal area.  This means, that all those people who come to see the pandas have no choice but to stop and admire the Takins on their way.

Here's what Wikipedia has to say about Takins:
The takin (pron.: /ˈtɑːkɪn/, also called cattle chamois or gnu goat, is a goat-antelope found in the eastern Himalayas.  Mitochondrial research shows the takin are related to sheep; its similarity to the muskox is an example ofconvergent evolution. The takin is the national animal of Bhutan.

The last time we went to the zoo we were so lucky to see a one week old baby takin!  Who was just so stinkin' cute that I thought it was time you all learned about takins too.  Stop by and give them some love so we aren't the only ones who spend longer looking at them than the pandas.
