Sadie's Starting Solids

Not only did Sadie get a tooth in mid-January, but she's eating real food! Well, sort of.  She started with rice cereal in January 4th.  She wasn't to sure about it, but eventually got some into her mouth.

Next up was carrots which she really wasn't into until the third time we tried it.

And peas.  Which were a hit day one and have gotten to be less interesting every day since.

We're excited to keep trying new foods as it's so fun to watch Sadie's reaction. We're also working on getting more food into her mouth and a little less on her face  :o).

World's Cutest Baby

It's official.  We are those parents who are so obsessed with their baby.  But we have a really good reason. She is soooo cute.  My Aunt Karolyn made us this wonderful soft and fluffy photo blanket and we were finally able to get our little model onto it for some photos.

And what we got was proof that we have the world's cutest baby.

See below.

Sadie's First Trip to the Beach

San Diego is having a really warm January and so we decided that Sadie needed to see the beach.  She wasn't so sure about the wind, but liked looking at the ocean and putting her toes in the sand.  I'm sure we're going to be here a lot this summer.

Five Month Cuteness

We know that we are biased...but man our baby is cute.  More proof below.

We spent some time at the park on New Years Day.

She wasn't wearing pants...

Sadie has transitioned from being swaddled when she sleeps to being in a "sleep sack".  Even though I miss our little burrito, she's still so adorable when she sleeps.

Wearing some Christmas wrappings...

Sadie's Five Months Old

Sadie has changed so much in the last month!  I went back to work and Adam stayed home with her.  Adam really enjoyed his special time with her. They went on lots of adventures and Sadie became an old pro at drinking from a bottle, finally!  At the end of December, we were all home together over the holidays and we had so much special time together as a stay home family of three which felt so nice.

Not only does Sadie not seems like a tiny baby anymore, but she really doesn't act like one either.  She found her toes this month and loves to suck on them.  She's really working on growing teeth.  She's drooling all the time and all outfits now require a bib.  And she goes through several soaked ones a day.  She does a chewing thing with her mouth all the time so I guess the teeth are on their way!  I can't see or feel anything yet, but I hope for her sake they come soon.

We also were given two wonderful jumpers!  When we put Sadie in it, it only took her a few minutes to love her new freedom of standing all on her own.  She was turning around to suck on all the different toys and had so much fun!  She now has one at our house and one at Grandma Rhine's house and she loves them both!

Sadie's First Christmas

We had a wonderful first Christmas with Sadie.  Several times we went out looking at Christmas lights to get Sadie into the holiday spirit.  It was really fun to watch her become more and more interested each time.  Even now (it's January now...) one of our neighbors still has their lights up and she just loves to look at them.  I'm excited to make light looking into one of our family traditions for the holidays as Sadie gets older.

On Christmas Eve we had our own tiny family Christmas at home.  Sadie opened a few presents from mom and dad.  Adam and I are truly adults as we got each other insulation for our house for our gift to each other.  (Not exciting, but boy is our house the right temperature now!)

We got to spend the day with both the Petersen and Rhine families and it was really nice.  Christmas was a perfectly sunny, 75 degree day so we even spent some time outside.

We are looking forward to next year when Sadie understands a little more of what the holidays are about.

Reading new books with Dad.

New toys!

So many presents!

Sadie wasn't great at opening presents...but she did do some ripping of the paper and did all she could to get the paper into her mouth.  Somehow we captured every step on camera.  Oh wait, it's because it was her first Christmas and so we took as many photos as the camera would take...

Yum....

Sadie's First Cookie Day

Sadie experienced her first cookie day.  I think it was an overwhelming experience for her full of people all the time, lots of new smells and no quiet time!  She sat in a highchair for the first time and did a lot of watching all the people in her crazy family.  It was so fun for me to have her as a part of our family tradition knowing that this will be something she will grow up looking forward to every year just like I did.

Next year's sure going to be different with a toddler on our hands sneaking cookies if we ever aren't watching I'm sure!

She's a cookie baker in the making!  Fitting right in with a holiday headband made by her Great Auntie Mary Alice and a tiny apron.

Cookie baking was exhausting for both of us.

Not quite sure here what the spatula is for.

Feeling embarrassed by this holiday head piece...

Finally in the cookie day spirit!
