10 on 10 December

Okay, well I mentioned that I'm new to this project.  So, this post is late and only has 8 photos in it, but...better than nothing.

Last Living Room Project Update

After working on our living room for so long, we finally feel like it's done.  The last project we worked on was making valances to go over the windows.  We're taking a break from projects for awhile now.

Here's what the windows looked like before (Please disregard the sewing project cluttering up the table)

Here's Noodle helping Adam with the install.

And here is the finished product!

This is a close up of the fabric.

We like her.

I wouldn't say we love her.  Yet.  But Noodle is finally starting to behave and do some really cute things.  Plus, we finally just replaced the springy door stoppers with ones that won't make noise when she hits them.  This is not going to become a cat lady blog.  Even though we all know my true nature (and Adam's now too).  So I promise I won't always post Noodle pictures.

But this one is just to cute.  She just found a new favorite place to hang out.

And in this one Adam has proof that one day she may be a lap cat.  She has proven she can.

Ten on Ten

My friend from USD Rachel (http://re-collected.blogspot.com)  is participating in a great photography project on her blog started by another blog she found.  Once a month on the tenth taking a photo an hour for ten consecutive hours. Finding life and beauty in the ordinary things of our day to day!  I'm not sure that my photography is all that great, or that I can really take all ten photos in one day.   But, I'm going to try.  Of course, this month, I had to work all day at an event, and was not able to carry around a camera.  So, some of these are from the 10th and some are just from the past few weeks.

Here's November, Enjoy!

Happy Halloween

We were not going to go big for Halloween this year, with the disappointing lack of Trick or Treaters in our neighborhood last year (we got even fewer this year!) and how busy we were, we skipped pumpkins and decided we'd do it again next year instead.

But, we both ended up getting dressed up for work.

Adam, of course, did not take a picture of his costume. He went as "The bottom of Lindsay's costume box" and wore lots of different pieces from bunny ears to a Hawaiian Lei and a bandana.

Lindsay, was pressured by her boss to win the costume contest at work, again.  He was supposed to go as Nemo in the anemone, but at the last minute, Lindsay had to do it.  So, here she is with her team of jelly fish.  We won first place at the contest, obviously.

Living Room Update

We have been working really hard on our living room and we're so close to being done!

Here are a few pictures of our new Agave walls in the living room and the kitchen.

And our new gallery photo wall.

And our new rug for the entryway.

We're waiting for the arrival of our new fabric to make valances out of and then the makeover will finally be complete.

Thank you to all of you who helped me make decisions and get these projects done!  I make take a LONG time to make decisions...but I think it was well worth it!

She's so Noodley.

It's really cute. Until it happens repeatedly at 3am.

Living Room Progress

Our next project after the painting was to update our fireplace.  This is a photo of what it looked like when we started.  A cherry mantle that didn't match anything in the house and an old screen cover that didn't do very well at keeping the cat out of it.  We sanded down the mantle and gave it a new coat of paint to match the other furniture that's in the house and we put in new glass doors that we got for our birthdays   (Thank you Mark and Janice!)  Such small things make such a huge difference!

Next up, getting to shop for new accessories to put on our new fireplace!

Noodle Time

Meet Noodle Petersen!

We got little Noodle two weeks ago and she has settled into our family right away. No hiding under the bed for this little Noodle.  From the moment she came home with us we put her into the office and hung out with her trying to make her comfortable with us.  And all she wanted was out of the office!  So Lindsay's mom "accidentally" let her out of the office on day two and she then had free reign of the house.

After sniffing every corner, she was just fine and not scared at all.  She loves to play and has endless amount of energy.  After her first day free in the house when we got into bed she snuggled in right between us like she had been doing it every night.

It seems so funny to welcome this little creature into your home and have it instantly love you enough to sleep with you and lick your face.  I need a little more time to adjust to sharing my pillow with someone....

As we get used to the considerable amount of cat hair that is appearing everywhere and the welcome meows that last about 20 minutes when you arrive home I'm sure the love will be reciprocated  Check back with us in a week.  We'll probably be obsessed by then.  We of course already have lots of pictures but she's not so into posing...so this is all we have so far that are good.

Agave Walls

We did it! We painted the living room!  It was a tough choice, but we decided on the paint color Agave.  Thanks to some experienced painters (Thank you Janice and Rachel!) we were able to paint the main wall in our living room and into the kitchen in just a few hours.  It looks so nice, I just wish that we had been able to decide on a color sooner.

The joy of painting means only getting a little paint on your body and somehow covering all your fingernails.  Why does this always happen??

Now I'm obsessing with getting all the finishing touches for the living room finished.  We're working on:

1. Photo gallery wall
2. Valances for the windows
3. Refinishing the mantle
4. New fireplace doors
5. New rug

Maybe once this is all done we'll have a housewarming party.  Or maybe just a party since I guess we can't really call it a housewarming after we've lived here for a year.

Stay tuned for more photos of how the room is coming along.

Beach Day

We spent a day at the beach with the Ellis, Varga and Wade families at the end of August. Even though the weather wasn't very nice, we still played in the sand, the boys in the water and had a nice dinner all together. It was Jocelyn's first time to the beach.  She liked the sand but did not like the water.

To add to the excitement, Adam got stung by a sting ray.  It hurt.  All the guys offered to pee on it.  What good friends.  And the worst part was, a week later his foot puffed up and he had to take antibiotics for a week!
