Adam the Trampoline

Adam's brother and family came to visit at the beginning of December. Our niece Abbi, thought Adam was basically a trampoline.....

You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch

For some holiday cheer this year we went to see The Grinch Who Stole Christmas at the Old Globe. I've always wanted to see it and this year we finally did. It was so incredibly cute and I would highly recommend it to everyone.

The best part is every time anyone said anything about "Whos" all the little who children made a little "who!"noise. And now I also can't stop doing it.

Cookie Weekend 2011

Cookies, cookies and more cookies. Yum. Cookie weekend was a four day event this year and it was Adam's first time not having finals or being deathly ill over it. We worked hard and made some delicious and beautiful cookies. Adam again was the chocolate dipper and also mastered the cookie press this year.

Christmas Lights

Yes, that is Adam on top of our roof. I really wanted the lights up there...but I was terrified while he was up there doing it. Even a few of our neighbors came out to watch him up there.
I've been looking foward to hanging Christmas lights up on our house pretty much since the day we moved in. And...I think it turned out pretty cute!

Happy Halloween!

We only had a small handful of trick-or-treaters, but it was still a good first Halloween at Casa Cab. That's what I'm calling it. Don't tell Lindsay, I haven't consulted with her yet. Also, our pumpkins were rad. Happy Halloween!

Closet Makeover

The only problem with our new house was that the master bedroom had a tiny closet with really bad built ins. So, when we moved it we each took a closet in the other two bedrooms. We took on this project over the last two weekends and it's finally done!

On weekend one we had to rip out the old built ins, patch the drywall and paint (we're not very good at before photos.

On weekend two we (well, Adam and his dad) cut and installed all the closet pieces from Home Depot. Now, we just have to get all our clothes moved into the new closet.

We're so happy to have all our clothes in one room now!

Lindsay Can Use PowerTools!

Check this out!! Our hedge has never looked better.

Finally, A Nail in The Wall

We have lived in our house for two months. We have been unable to make any decisions about where we want to put any decor up on the wall. So it was a big day when we finally made a decision about one tiny nail hole in our kitchen...hanging our cute "P tile" from Kirsten! It's been a few weeks since this happened, and it has encouraged me to hang up a few more things. Even though I'm not happy about putting holes is our new walls...I have to admit, I like having some things up on the walls.

New Bedroom Furniture

Since we got married, we have been wanting to get new bedroom furniture. But, in our wonderful, yet tiny apartment, there was no room for adult furniture. So, I continued to use the furniture I picked out when I was 10, little flowers and all and Adam used the dresser he has had since his childhood that didn't really hold clothes as big as he is.

Shopping for the furniture turned out to be not easy as my taste is out of style. All I wanted was light colored furniture and what's in style is dark. Hardly any stores carry my totally out of date style. We looked in every furniture store there was and found nothing. I was about to give up when I looked at JC Penny. (Bridget will you still tell me you like it?) Big surprise, they have lots of furniture and had one, out of style, but just my taste, bedroom set!

I was so excited that we sold Adam's dresser on craigslist two weeks before the new stuff even was delivered. Oops.

It came! And even though the rest of you like dark furniture ( really, i'm like the only person who doesn't want it ) tell me you like it anyways!

Baking Soda, Our New Best Friend

We have discovered that baking soda can solve so many of our problems. Well, at least two. Our dishwasher sometimes leaves glasses a little cloudy and when I researched how to un-cloud glass, it said to scrub them with baking soda mixed with water and an toothbrush. And...it worked! It's amazing how the internet always has the answers.

Then, today we got our new bedroom furniture and the mirror had some marks from where they had put a big X out of tape on it. Adam scrubbed and scrubbed with glass cleaner and could not make it come clean. But, guess what did. Baking soda. Yup.

My new best friend.

Baby Sitting Cammie

Well, Mike and Rachel trusted US-Lindsay and Adam-with their baby! Who would have thought.
We were just a little nervous about being alone with someone as small as Cammie, but we did just fine. So, I guess, someday, we will be okay when we have a baby.
Cammie is almost 7 weeks old and really just eats, poops and sleeps. Although we did make her smile a few times.

Weekend Breakfast

We're not that into breakfast. So weekend breakfasts are the only time that we sometimes will take a few extra minutes to cook breakfast. Last weekend we had a lovely looking breakfast of muffin egg scrambles.
Doesn't it look pretty?

Easter Bunnies

We like Easter bunnies and all bunnies really. And we like all the bunnies who live in our yard. They have yet to leave us anything nice like some chocolate or easter themed socks like the real Easter bunny...but they are around everyday unlike the real Easter bunny. Every morning and every evening when we look out the window they are there.

It's nice to always have someone to say hi to.

Now it feels like Home

I finally used my oven for something important...baking cookies! And the good news is that it is a good oven and it worked well. Adam will tell you that the cookies were delicious. If you're lucky and come over soon, there is more dough in the fridge just waiting to be baked fresh!

Looking forward to many more Delicious things to come out of this oven soon.

Congratulations to Stephanie and Aaron

Yesterday my good friend from high school, Stephanie got married! I was honored to be a part of her special day and I had such a great time being with all my best friends from high school! I love you all!

The reception was held on the William D. Evans Steamboat at the Bahia hotel. It was a gorgeous night to be out in Mission Bay watching the fireworks!

Poor Adam had pneumonia...but he looks like he's having fun right?

Think some healing thoughts for Adam as he's been sick for a week and is ready to be healthy again!

Gardening...Huh

Today was the first day I was embarrassed by my yard. I left for work and as I was driving past the house I couldn't believe the patch of weeds that had sprung up in the front yard.

So, when I got home today I knew I had to tackle those weeds. We have a dirt patch on the lawn where we think a tree used to be and it was full of these huge weeds and mushrooms. Thankfully my mom gave me some gardening tools and so out they came.

I learned a few things about yard work today.
1. There are always more weeds than you think there are.
2. You shouldn't do yard work in your work clothes. Dresses especially, it hurts your knees.
3. Gardening gloves are on my shopping list.
4. There is always more to do.

It looks like I have a lot more gardening to do in my future...

Action shot...look how hard I'm working!

Bye Bye Bonk

Right before we moved we had to say goodbye to Bonk. It was a very difficult day and we miss him very much. He was such a special cat and we are so sad he never got to see our new house. We think about him everyday and are looking forward to adding another pet to our family again someday.

He never was very good at taking pictures, and we took about a million trying, but he did pose for a few good ones in his last few weeks.

Thank you to everyone for your support as we are going through this tough time.

Home Improvements

Even though our house really didn't need very much work (thank goodness) there were still a few things that we have been working on.

Luckily, Adam's dad knows how to fix everything, so we are in good hands.

Some of the things we've done so far:
New cabinets in the garage.
Medicine cabinet in the bathroom.
New handle on the sliding door (We did this one all by ourselves :o) )
Running cable wires through the attic and through the wall and into the living room and office

We're getting to know Home Depot.

The project I really want to get to is painting the front door red. All I've ever wanted was a house with a red front door. So...someday soon this will be the next project.

Moving Day

We moved on July 23rd (Happy birthday to Aaron and Cindy) and it was such a great day! Thank you to all the movers who helped us.

It was such a sign of being grown up when we told everyone to be there to help at 8:30am. So we expected everyone to show up about 9. And, by 8:35, everyone had arrived to help. So, we loaded the truck in just an hour!

And, with no stairs, we unloaded in just a 1/2 hour!

It was such a great day to be in our new house and all our helpful movers made it so much easier. Knowing that we don't have to move again for a long time feels so great.

Calle Caballeros

After many months of watching HGTV's House Hunters we finally decided that we were ready and started seriously looking for a house. Once we started, it all happened so fast! We looked at this house on a Wednesday, made an offer on Thursday, and it was ours on Friday. And, it was a quick escrow and soon, we had the keys!

It's three bedrooms, two bathrooms, has little backyard and a garage.

Here are some photos of our new home before we moved in and had boxes everywhere!

We have a blog!

Well, we thought when we made our wedding website that we would keep up a blog about our happenings, but we didn't. But, we did lots of cool stuff, so we hope that you heard about it all since we were not blogging about it.

But, now that we just celebrated our two year anniversary and bought a house, it's time to try to keep up on this blogging thing again.

So, stay tuned for hearing all about our new adventure as home owners.
